Default No boot after update to 10.6.5 (Dell Mini 10v,10.6.3, NBI 8.5 RC1) - 12-20-2010, 08:15 PM

I tried many reboots, always stays on the gray apple screen with the spinning wheel. Was working just fine before 10.6.5. Any suggestions how to fix this.

You need to be using the patched NBI, not 8.5.

Information on OS X 10.6.4

Default Ok, How? - 12-21-2010, 01:27 AM

How do I put the patch in now? The computer doesn't finish booting. On a Mac I could hold down the "T" key and put in into target disk mode, or "S" and go into single user text mode, but how do I fix this? Can you please further explain what I should do?

Are you setup for dual boot or is SL the only OS loaded on the system?

When the spinning lines appear: "- | \ /", have you tired hitting ESC or the up arrow? When I do that, I get a Mac count down graph. When that is displayed I press the up arrow again and get a command link where you would enter "recovery=y". This should bring you back into the SL system where you can load NBI. I was able to fix my boot issue by loading NBI 0.8.4 RC1. WiFi does not work for me with this version but I can at least boot.

Hope this helps.

While away working my darling fiance un-knowingly ran the apple update and updated my Mini10v to 10.6.5 (not sure what version but it was about 3 weeks ago). Now I'm stuck at the grey apple logo. The machine won't boot. SL is the only OS loaded.

When I hold shift before the at the Chameleon loader I can see in the top left corner
"Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132 - Chameleon v2.0-RC3 r
Build date: 2009-10-12 18:31:29
1014MB memory"

I typed in the bottom right corner recovery=y but it doesn't boot at all just hangs at the grey apple logo.

I'll be home this next weekend and have access to the original usb external boot leopard install disk with the NBI on it.

Any suggestions ?
Thanks really appreciate folks time and expertise here on the site ..

Joel
