Updates crashed my mini 10. I really need your help! :( - 10-14-2010, 07:06 PM
Right here's the down low. I just bought a Dell Mini 1011 and this morning successfully installed Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with everything working perfectly fine. I did this at work so then when I just brought it back home, I connected it to the internet and noticed the volume/speakers wasn't responding.
I used a .pkg application from this article (OS X 10.6.2 on a DELL mini10v Inspiron 1011 « OSX86SV) which is the 'About this mac' fix link and the article states it fixes the sound problem but I didn't use this article to actually install OS X, I used a video on Youtube.
Anyway, while I installed this .pkg I was downloading 6 software updates. I briefly checked the updates and believe one was itunes, one was airport and think a security update or something. So once that finished I checked the sound but nothing happened so I thought it would work once the updates restart the mini. It restarted and then the white screen appeared with the loading icon but the apple logo had changed to a netbook icon with the os x 'X' on the screen. It then rebooted again and the same screen appeared but with the apple logo again.
Then this is where the problem happened. It didn't boot up the system, it brought up a black screen with loads of computer actions text and the mac message comes up saying you need to restart your computer by holding the power button and then pressing it again.
I've done that several times and nothing's happening.
I've tried putting my USB back in to re-install os x but the mini won't detect it so I'm stuck
Can anyone please help me. I'm lost and I don't know what to do. I hope you understand what I've wrote but please ask if your unsure of anything.
Thank you so much and hope to hear from you guys soon

I would keep NetBookInstaller, it may come in handy if you want to change anything later, like enable bluetooth or enable quiet boot. Comes in handy if you need to reinstall kexts for the mini as well.
