Default Trying to hackintosh - 09-17-2010, 11:39 PM

Have got a Mac with 10.5.8 and downloaded bootmaker onto it to convert my dell to a mac, but my mac couldn't read bootmaker.

What am I doing wrong?

Am I able to do it with Mac 10.5 as well as 10.6?

i had the same problem... you have to update the Mac your using to prep the drive to at least 10.6.0 (show leopard). Or u could go to a friend with osx 10.6.0 (that's what i did). After that NBBM 0.8.4 works just dandy. Good Luck!

I recommend updating to 10.6 and using mechdrew's excellent installation guides.

However, if you want to stay with Leopard, look at mechdrew's guide page for SL - there's a link for use with Leopard. I have no input to give you on how it works but his SL guide worked like a charm.

Good luck,

Default NetbookBootMaker falls over - 09-29-2010, 12:00 PM

From a newbie non-nerd....

I'm running 10.5.8 on an iMac, but I've bought a clean install version of 10.6.3 to install on the 10v.

I've put 10.6.3 on the USB drive but NetbookBootmaker 0.8.4 crashes and refuses to work. However NetbookBootmaker 0.8.3 is working a treat.

Given that I am mixing NetbookBootmaker 0.8.3 and Mac OS X 10.6.3 am I heading for disaster? Should I stop right now or boldly go where no one (except you guys) have gone before.

Default Kernel Mismatch was NetBookBootMaker falls over - 09-29-2010, 02:15 PM

Dear All again

I proceeded and made the suggested alterations at BIOS SetUp - but when I subsequently pressed F12 boot selector and choose USB device I get a Switch off instruction. In the background is a row of error messages but at the top I can see 'Version Mismatch between Kernel and CPU PM' .

Now I really am deep in the brown stuff. What to do?

1.Try to download this img file from : (i got this link from another thread).
2.Then follow MECHDREW's guide : NetbookInstaller 2: USB Mac Installation via Any Operating System | Guides | OS X | mechdrew
- I used this method : " NetbookInstaller 2: USB Mac Installation via Any Operating System " since i only have a Windows PC and use the img file that you have downloaded.

Hope this helps
