Try a different USB flash drive, a lot of people have had problems booting from various USB flashes.

Sounds like a bad image to me. What program did you use to make the image? Have you tried the free trial of TransMac?
Download TransMac

I've had the same thing happen to me. I thought it was just because I was using an old iBook to make it, but it's not really an image, is it? You're literally just copying over the files from the Mac DVD to the USB. Yes, you then use NetBookMaker, but...

Any solutions?

FYI: That is the Mac screen you get with a kernel panic.

About "You need to restart your computer" (kernel panic) messages

Quote:
Additional Information
A "kernel panic" may occur when the core (kernel) of an operating system receives an instruction in an unexpected format, or that it does not handle properly. A kernel panic may also occur when the operating system is not able to recover from a different type of issue. A kernel panic can be caused by damaged or incompatible software or, more rarely, damaged or incompatible hardware.

I know what a KP is.

That doesn't help solve the problem. I've used four different USB drives to no avail. If my computer crashes, I am SOL because I can't start from a USB, and that's not really cool.
