Default OSX was running great, now boot gets stuck on the DELL screen - 08-31-2010, 08:00 PM

EDIT: SOLVED! not sure how it happened, but after ignoring my netbook for an evening it finally booted the following morning. no idea why. (in case i stumbled upon something tho, i was holding down the "v" key on boot.) once i got it booted, i ran NBI, and disabled USB BIOS Legacy Support. running and waking just fine now.

Hey all, I just recently got my hands on a mini 10v and put snow leopard on it. It worked great for a day or so, then it began having problems recovering from sleep. It would lock up, and I'd have to restart it.
So it happened again today, and when I restarted it, it just hung at the DELL logo screen with the progress bar at about 3/4 for over an hour.

How can I get this thing to boot so I can fix this issue? all of the boot commands I know are for when OSX is loading.

DELL Mini 10v, 1GB RAM, OSX 10.6.0, Installed using Netbookbootmaker 0.8.3

I've only been on the site for a couple of weeks but have a learned a couple of things too... does your BIOS (F2 at boot) work ? If you can get in there make sure the USB Legacy Support is disabled. After that - if it does not boot into OSX, insert your USB Stick that you used to install. If it gets past the Dell screen as you note a grey screen will appear allowing you to select the HD to boot from. Hopefully it will then get going.

When you get back to OSX make sure you run the NBI application again with the proper parameters set as the guides dictate. Reboots thereafter should be ok.

thanks for the advice. problem is, i can't get F2 or F12 to work. i have no idea why that DELL pre-load is there, but that seems to be the problem, and not the OSX boot.

anyone know of a way to get past or around that DELL load screen? or a verbose mode or something? it's hard to believe there's no back door for that.

To get F2 and F12 work, you have to push the windows key and F2 or Ctrl and F12.
