Default Reinstalling OSX from scratch - help - 08-31-2010, 04:05 PM

I recently removed OSX from my 10V and went back to WinXP with NTFS file system. Now I want to remove XP and go back to OSX. I have tried 2 methods described by MecDrew but they both fail.
1. Using the CD method and an external DVD drive, I get the NetbookCD to work, but it refuses to accept my OSX DVD and goes no further.
2. Using the 2 USB sticks method, it starts to boot into the second USB stick, but then I always get a window asking me to reboot my PC.

I am wondering if there may be some old boot records in my HDD preventing me from reinstalling OSX. I have tried reformatting the HDD with a clean XP install but keep getting the same results.
Any suggestions.
Peter

How did you build it the first time? Not all externals are compatible, probably you read that already.......matter of fact, not all USB's are either!!
