Default BLAST! Can anyone offer advice please? - 07-21-2010, 09:25 PM

I have 2 usb sticks; a small [1gb] no-name one with the 0.8.4RC1 [jamesbarnhills version]file on and a Scandisk Cruzer 16mb with the 10.6.3 OS on.

I start the boot on the 10v [1011], select the Mac OS option.

The screen goes grey and very quickly comes up with....
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x5582710: "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1504.3.12/iokit/kernel/IOPlatformExpert .cpp:1389
[there is no time to do a -v as while holding shift the above appears

Looking aroiund there is a comment that it might be the USB stick.
If this is true, has it got beyond 0.8.4RC1 stick?

Could it be beause I am using NTFS not FAT32 on the OS ISO?

Any other helpful ideas?

I have 7 days befor my sons birthday to get this sorted............

did you run Netbook Bootmaker over your os x usb stick? didn't sound like it from your post. see step 8 and after here :-

you shouldnt need NBI on a seperate USB stick as far as i remember, but 10.6.3 might be a different can of worms from 10.6.0.

I did the "no-Mac" option [as I don't have a Mac :>] a-la NetbookInstaller 2: USB Mac Installation via Any Operating System | Guides | OS X | mechdrew

HOWEVER, I redid my ISO burn slower [x2] and it seems to have worked.... YAY!

Until I got to the "First Boot and NetbookInstaller" bit......

Now there is no way I can seem to get 0.8.4RC1 installed. Hack sees "boot" as a 339kb document [????] and a folder called "Extra".

I cannot do;
  1. " "unzip" the NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 application and open it. If a warning prompt shows up asking, "Are you sure you want to open it?" click Open. Select the following options:
  2. Volume: <your internal drive>
  • Install Chameleon 2 NBI bootloader
  • Install <your model name> Extensions
  • Generate a system specific DSDT.aml file
  • <Any other options you would like, the above are necessary.>
  1. Press Install, enter your password and press OK."
