Default New 10v OS X headphone jack hardware problem - 07-21-2010, 01:22 PM

Great site, I've been here lurking for the last few weeks. Just got my refurbished 10v (Nickleodeon) and fresh install of 10.6.3 this past weekend. Not sure if this question would be better in another forum, but I'm sure many here have hacked open their Mini. I did search and found lots of threads but they mostly were Mini9 and software related issues.

Flawless operation except a bad head phone jack. I'm 99% sure its hardware. The plug is sloppy in the jack, unlike the mic jack that has a positive click when plugging in. I can hold it "just so" and the sound will crack through to headphones. Let go and it's back to the speakers.

I don't have time (due to a trip for which I purchased this netbook) to send it back. Looking through the repair manual, looks like the jack is located on the system board. I have the time to open this up myself, or just live with it for a few weeks til I get back.

Are there any tags or seals I would have to break/void the warranty if dig as deep as the system board?
