Default installed MS Office, now SL won't boot - 06-23-2010, 12:48 PM

Not sure how MS Office would really effect SL, and Chameleon. But that's the only thing that's new, and now SL won't boot, and Chameleon won't even show up. Just get the black screen, blinking cursor. I am able to boot into all my OS's (Win 7, Ubuntu, SL) by using my SL install USB drive-- chameleon off of that recognizes everything, and SL starts up no problem that way.

Tried re running NBI. no luck.

Any ideas?

O.

Go to Windows 7, click Start > type diskpart > Enter
then, type : select disk 0
list partition
select partition # (# is the number of SL partition)
active
then restart, you will be able to boot to chameleon. If not, boot to SL again then reinstall Chameleon using NBI.

Hey pokenguyen, Thanks for the response.

That was the first thing I checked. And SL partition was still active. So I tried reinstalling chameleon. But still nothing. Any other suggestions?

Additional info:
by setting active partition to either the Win7 or Ubuntu partitions, those OSs will boot normally. Ubuntu will bring up grub, from which Ubuntu and Win7 can booth boot; but not SL.

thanks again.

UPDATE.
I don't know what went wrong, or if it really had anything to do w/ the Office Install. But as I said, that was the only thing that was new/different from before.

Not wanting to go on a wild goose chase, I just moved Office to my files partition and just restored the SL-- I have it installed on a USB drive for precisely this type of situation, I guess.

All's well now. Office runs fine from the new location.

cheers.
