Exclamation Updating from 10.6.0 to 10.6.4 - 06-19-2010, 07:41 PM

I have had my hackintosh mini 10v for a few weeks now and wanted to know how to update safely to 10.6.4. I'm new to the whole hackintosh world so i don't know how these things work yet. Is it just as simple as using the software update and installing it? I have read many threads about updating from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3 but none for updating from 10.6 to any higher.

1) download the new tweaked NBI (see post 67 of the official OSX6.4 thread, OSX general board)
2) run that new NBI
3) open Apple SU or download the appropriate apple step update(in your case the COMBO 6.4)
4) mount and run the update and wait..

Thanks. I forgot to mention that it is dual booted with OS X and Windows 7. Will this NBI affect the dual boot?

Yes - it will set the Mac partition as active which means you will get the Chameleon boot. Press enter at the initial boot to select the Win7 partition, boot it and then use Disk Manager to make the Win7 partition active IF you're using the Windows boot selector. Otherwise, you'll be ok.

Ok thanks for the help. I'm just doing it all now so I will let you know how it all goes.

After a long wait, I have got to the background of the logon screen. Just the background, no logon options. What a surprise, I probably did something wrong. Serves me right for being a beginner. Can anyone help?

Decided to do 10.6.3 instead. Works fine now but no sound.
