Default Error installing from usb drive: "Version mis-match...." - 06-19-2010, 05:54 AM

Hello All,

Just got my Dell Mini 10v and proceeded to try and install SL on it. I followed the instructions on Gizmodo. I was able to get thru the process of installing SL on a jump drive along with Netbookmaker. When I went to install it on the Dell Mini I get the following error:

panic (cpu 0 caller 0x...)" "Version mis-match between Kernel and CPU PM"
The errors continue down the page and I receive a pop-up message telling me to restart the machine. A few things to note about my install process:

  1. The SL install disk was 10.6.3
  2. The Mac that I used was running 10.5.x (don't remember the exact version)
  3. I had to use Netbookmaker 0.8.3 as 0.8.4 RC is not supported on Leopard.
I am assuming that one of the items above is causing my issue but I don't know which one or how to correct it.

Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So I also tried installing SL (using windows) via this link - NetbookInstaller 2: USB Mac Installation via Any Operating System | Guides | OS X | mechdrew and I received the same error as before. I am thinking that maybe it's because I am using 10.6.3 (and not 10.6)? Can anyone confirm this?

You should try here, when I got this error it was because the mach_kernel I was using was incorrect and the linked process addresses this - i posted my specific process here that combines mechdrew's 2 and 3 guide with jame's linked process. Hope it helps!

Hey, azsl1326, you can also try using Mechdrew's guide but replace his 0.8.3f image with this (0.8.4RC1).
