using the available guides, just want to share my experience with the 10.6.3 install and ask for some feedback.
I first did the installation (actually 3 times) from USB stick with SL 10.6.0, with step-by-step upgrade to 10.6.1, 10.6.2 to 10.6.3. All worked fine until 10.6.2. With 10.6.3, always ended with blue screen. I thought that it was a bad SL image, but actually I did not give time enough to NBM&NBI to finish the job properly during the installation process.
Bought an original SL DVD 2 days ago, 10.6.3 version. Prepared the USB stick with NBM latest version. Installation was the easiest thing. Just boot from USB, follow the on-screen instructions, and finished (after 40 min).
My system runs great, even with Ilife applications, MS office and Photoshop&Fireworks CS5, apart from 2 minor issues:
1. Can't switch off Bluetooth, not even in system preferences. The tick box is there, but can't change it.
2. If on battery, after hibernating, once I restart the computer, after the DELL start screen and before the Apple starting screen, I get a error message for a few seconds "Hibernate image to old by xxxxseconds, use forcewake=y to override".
Regarding Bluetooth, it is not a major issue, as I can switch is off in BIOS if needed. I re-did the SL installation on a external HDD, with SL 10.6.0, and up to upgrade 10.6.2, BT
could still be turned on/off, although only in system preferences, not on the menu bar. With the last upgrade step to 10.6.3, same result as before. Bluetooth always on, no on/off anymore.
Anyone can offer some advice on how to fix this, both BT
and hibernate message at startup? No big deal for me, I consider my system to be 99.9% perfect, but still it would be nice to have 100%.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
