Read First!: I accidently put my original post in the wrong section. Sorry for re-posting!
Today I ran into a problem with my Dell Mini 10v (dual-booted), where there's absolutely NO audio on Mac OS X (10.6.3). There is audio on Windows 7. I rebooted: no luck. I re-installed extensions from the /Extra folder and rebooted: no luck. Has anyone had this problem before? Can it be fixed without reinstalling Snow Leopard?

Reboot until audio is established. this is the ONLY fix available now.

You and many others await a permanent fix.

I wonder whether you solved the problem. I had the exact same issue, though I could have sworn that it worked after update to 10.6.3. Then I shut it down instead of restarting and lo and behold OSX got its sound back and the Audio button which was grayed was black and functional.
