Default What are the benefits of upgrading to 10.6.2 or higher - 05-16-2010, 06:09 PM

I have installed OS-X 10.6. I'm wondering if anyone knows why I should or should not upgrade to
10.6.1 or higher (and which). I read (I think on phronix) that 10.6.3 was slower than 10.6.0

To my knowledge, there is no software out which requires anything higher than 10.6.

Security updates, improvements to Safari, general debugging of the OS, etc.

If you look at the description for the package, it lists the improvements.

10.6.3 doesn't seem any faster of slower on my machine, your mileage may vary.

Stay at 10.6.2 if you know what's good for you. Many, many people have had issues beyond there. Hopefully these will be resolved at some point, but for now 10.6.2...

I am using mini 9 but guess 10v is similar. I am running 10.6.3 with NBI 0.84RC and have nothing that is not working, sound, mic, sleep, speedstep, WWAN and even the 5530 GPS.

If you knew what's good for you you'd not try and put Mac OSX on an non Apple. I don't think 10.6.3 is really particularly worse.... I think we're just getting a larger and more whiney community. People used to expect it to be a struggle now people expect no issues. I've had no issues with the upgrades, but I carefully follow the advice of the people that have proven to be reliable.
