Default HELP! Unable to dim the screen fully. - 05-13-2010, 06:36 AM

I'm currently running osx 10.5.8 and when I press the backlight dimming key all the way, the screen doesn't turn fully off, instead it just becomes very faint. is there a patch or anything so that I can fully turn off my screen.

Also, I don't want to put it to sleep, because I use it with an external monitor.

Thanks alot.

There are a variety of methods, programs and settings to SLEEP your displays. You may be aware of them. I have found no way to kill the backlight on the local display alone (let alone the lcd too).

I want the same functionality you're asking for!

You should be able to use Expose to sleep your screen.

Go to system prefs... then expose & spaces... Under Expose one of the options for the corners of the screen should be "put monitor to sleep".

Hope that helps.
