Well I finally got this thing up and running after much frustration. I unfortunately had to use a torrent copy of 10.6 to get going. I believe at this point it is not possible to directly install 10.6.3.
I started with jjczon's instructions on converting the 0.8.3 image to 0.8.4:
What I did: I had the USB image of NBI_083 opened it in TransMac, deleted the NBI_083.app.zip, tried to insert the NBI_084 app.zip. Unfortunate I received a message that the file was too big. Removed the 10.5 section (ca 15 Mb) too from the NBI_083 image. After that I was able to put the NBI_084-app in the NBI_083 USB image. |
Via Transmac put the downloaded torrent (dmg format) on my USB stick, and things started rolling.
Then I found a torrent of a 10.6 .dmg image and instead of converting it to an iso and then an img I used transmac to write the .dmg file directly to my flash drive, thanks again to jjczon for that piece of info.
I then installed basically using the mechdrew method. Everything went without a hitch. Running 10.6.3 with no problems.
