I used the Gizmodo USB method on my daughter's 10v. I then upgraded to 10.6.2. Around a year later my daughter thought she was just upgrading iLife, but she accidentally upgraded the O/S as well. Not sure, but think it was to 10.6.3. Kernel panic ensued.
I didn't want to lose all the data on the 10V so first I tried to simply reinstall using the same memory stick, which was set up with version 0.8.3 of NetBookBootmaker. Didn't work. Next, I downloaded 0.8.4, selected the USB and ran it. Different look on bootup, but still didn't work. Finally, I wiped the USB, repartitioned, copied the OS files and then ran 0.8.4. Success. I was able to successfully install on the 10v and all files and programs were preserved. Upgraded to 10.6.3 so my daughter could upgrade iLife and showed her how to avoid accidental OS upgrades in the future.
