Default Hackintosh with A06 - 04-15-2010, 03:36 PM

I have A06 BIOS. I am going to run ImageWriter for windows as I don't own a MAc. Is there a need for me to downgrade?

In a word... No!

I have moved your thread to the OS X area of the Forum, where you will find lots of useful information.

Thanks for the quick reply. But is your answer for the question " Do I need to downgrade'? or "Can I hackintosh with A06?"

Thank You once again. I am dying to get your reply. Thanks

Just to clarify... Yes, you can hackintosh with A06 (I did so on my 10v) and No, you do NOT need to downgrade your BIOS.

I assume you have read Mechdrews guides, and have looked at some of the other posts on here first though?

Hi,

I am really sorry but I have one last question.

As I am not going to use NetBookMaker (Don't have Mac) could I still hackintosh using A06 without needing to downgrade.

I am going to use the Windows procedure mentioned in the guide. Do I need to downgrade?

I know that your answer is NO, but wanna reconfirm as I am extremely scared to try out the process.

Thanks [Sorry]

Hi,

As you don't have access to a Mac (which a lot of members, including myself, don't) I assume you will initially be following Mechdrew's excellent guide here.

It goes without saying (I hope!) that you do have a legal retail copy of OS X.

If you are following his guide, I would however recommend using TransMac, rather than InfraRecorder (which I tried first!)

The procedure is as follows:

Install TransMac, and then run the program. Insert the DVD into your drive and the larger USB drive into an available port. Right-click on your DVD, select "Save Image of Disk" and save it to a folder on your hard drive. Wait for this to finish. Next, right-click on your flash drive, highlight "Format Disk" and select "Format with Disk Image". Select the DVD image you just created, "Open", and then click "Yes". Wait for this to finish, this will probably take at least half an hour.

Good Luck!

When you have completed that you can then think about an upgrade to 10.6.3!

... and finally to confirm, you definately do NOT have to downgrade your BIOS!

Oh my god! Montala, you are the best.... I will surely try your procedure out tonight. Thanks.

How is your experience with your Hackintosh? Does it slow down your Dell Mini and what about the battery life? Does it have an impact?

As you are the Dell Mini "God" for me, I had one more question. I have a friend of mine who has a hackintosh and he did it with a pirated copy of OSX. What is wrong with that? Though I have an original one.

Thank you for your kind words, but I can assure you that there are a lot of members on here who are far more knowledgeable about this sort of thing than I am!

I previously ran my Mini 10v under both XP and Windows 7, but I am more than happy with its performance under OS X 10.6.3... In fact I rather like it as an OS!

I just followed the guides carefully, and carried out the procedures with virtually no problems... care and patience are the bywords here!

As I only use mine at home, and am not too concerned about battery life, I am probably not really the best person to comment on that!

This Forum does not condone piracy, and a number of users have reported problems when using 'dubiously acquired' copies of OS X.

Enjoy!

I can not seem to get mine to install and recognize my 10v's keyboard... I need some sort of help. I have read many guides and still to no avail.
