Problems with OSX Install on Mini 10V, PLEASE HELP! At my wit's end... - 04-15-2010, 07:40 AM
I hope someone can help. I recently got a Dell Mini 10v so I could install OS X. I bought a SL CD and used this guide ... I got both USB drives created and everything was going fine. It booted into the installer, I partitioned the drive correctly, and then the install began.
The OS X installer said there was 16 minutes left and then it says 15 minutes left. Next, it throws up an error screen. The error screen reads as follows:
Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer.
<yellow triangle with exclamation point>
The Installer could no copy the necessary support files.
Click restart to restart your computer and try again."
When I restart, if I try to install again with all the same media in the same spots, it gives me a "mach_kernel" error... I have to install Ubuntu to clear the drive in order to even try to install SL again (and, when I do, exactly the same thing happens).
Also, note this: when I re-partition and try to fix the drive immediately before restarting, while still in the SL installer, it has no effect ... I still cannot try to re-install SL without wiping the drive with an Ubuntu install.
I am at my wit's end with this.... Please, PLEASE help!!! I just want it to work.

If you're following along with the mechdrew guides (and if you aren't, you should consider doing so - they're hands down the best guides for attempting these types of boots) ... there's a line in there that says...
