Default Battery Charging Issues - Hackintosh 10v - 04-07-2010, 05:46 PM

Just hackintoshed a 10v, with the extended battery, running original 10.6.1 Snow Leopard.

The battery refuses to charge. The status indicator does not change to indicate charging when plugged in, and i left it over night and the battery is right where i left it at 10%. I ran it all the way down and still no dice.

The computer of course runs with the battery in and the cord connected...

Any known issues or is this a bad battery righ tout of the box?

It's possible that you have turned on "Disable battery charging" in Battery driver when you were using Windows 7. The solution is create a dual boot with Windows 7, install Battery Meter and turn off "Disable battery charging"

Before you do that, try going into the BIOS, choosing the restore default settings option, saving, and rebooting.

I had exactly the same problem. Turned out to be the battery charger, which didn't work, even though the light on the charger was on when plugged in.

So you could try a different charger with the same specs.

Spot on, Dell had me send it back and diagnosed the charger as the problem. Sent it out Friday, got it back today!

Thx for the suggestions.
