Default My no sound fix - 04-04-2010, 08:02 PM

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I thought I should share.

I had the same no sound issue after updating both NetBookInstaller and to 10.6.3. I tried reinstalling, permissions and UpdateExtra with no luck. Finally I looked in System/Library/Extensions and found two .kext with audio in the title: AudioIPCDriver.kext and AudioAUUC.kext. Removing either one of these and rebooting fixed the problem. I ended up keeping AudioAUUC.kext, since it seemed to be the one that came with 0.8.4RC1

I would also like to let you all know, as an Applecare advisor This audio issue is one of the main call drivers with all apple machines. Its not localized to the hackintosh community.
I had sound issues until I followed these steps line by line. I did a fresh install and did exactly what is listed above. Since the fresh install I have rebooted 10 times with no sound issue anymore. Everything works perfectly as it should.

I just tried this fix, and it didn't work for me.

meklort... i understand that you'd have other priorities. any idea about the ETA of the fixed bootloader?

i have this issue and even after 3 re-installs, i'm back to 10.6.2. Would love to move to 10.6.3 but i can revert back as i now have a SuperDuper Image and restore is 2 hrs. tops...

I am totally having the same issue. So far the only times it has happened has been when I shut down Win7 and boot into 10.6.3. Thanks for working on this merklort!

I had sound right after upgrading and after shutting down did not. I fixed permissions and re-booted and sound is back. I will let you guys know if I have anymore issues with intermittent sound. Thanks for all the useful info here it makes using this hackintosh a dream.

Is it normal to not have sound, but also not have the sound bar greyed out? Mine looks normal, but no sound comes from the speakers.

It sounds like most people are getting the greyed out audio bar in OSX when having audio problems.
