Default Problem with wake - noob question - 03-24-2010, 04:48 PM

I have just finished setting a Dell Mini10v with 10.6.1 and am having a problem with sleep/wake.

When I select Apple->Sleep or close the lid, the machine sleeps (or hibernates - I am not sure which), but when I open the lid I am unable to wake the machine unless I hit the power key. I have set the pmset to lidwake 0, but should the laptop wake if I hit any key on the keyboard?

Thanks!

i believe i've disable hibernation completely, but my sleep mode is kind of strange: if i close the lid, it sleeps, but awakens automatically upon reopening. if it falls asleep with the lid open, i need to hit the power button...pressing the keys/trackpad will not work.

but i can close the lid while it is sleeping, wait a few seconds, then open up the lid and have it awake automatically....

How and where can you configure all this?

well you can configure hibernate/sleep modes with the pmset lidwake X command, where X = 1 to 5. there's a few threads about the specific commands and what they do as far as configuration.
