i've been playing with this for hours now, i can add a smbios.plist to /extra and fill it with macbook4,1 info and it shows up as a macbook, icon and all. however i'm pretty sure this is disabling speedstep all together, xbench results are literally HALF what they are without the smbios.plist present, and youtube videos are unwatchable. i'm not 100% following you either, what is the best method you think of getting this to show up as a macbook 4,1?

Use MacbookPro5,1 and speed stepping will work perfectly.

wow thanks for that tip, is rc2 soon to be released? anyway, yeah 5,1 worked flawlessly, i just made an smbios.plist with just that model identifier and you're right, but i never doubted it. speedstep is not only working perfectly, i'm benchmarking higher than i was without that .plist so thanks, looking forward to rc2.

the RC2 got out yesterday i just talked to meklort and he suggested me to patch the dvdplayer so instead of macbookair1,1 we should put macboopro5,1 using hex editor, so we could run the dvd player using remote disc without causing any trouble the speed stepping. I'm pretty new at this and don't have lot of time so if someone could give it a try and lemme know that would be great !
Thank you in advance!

if anyone wants a macbook5,1 smbios.plist that will make it show as macbook in about this mac, and laptop icon here it is, this still doesn't fix the dvd issue tho.

Meklort told me that:
You should be able to. If not, you can always modify the Apple SMC
plugin for power managment so that the MacbookAir profile matches the
MacbookPro5,1 profile and then the machine *shouldn't* panic.

Anyone could me to do that, I don't know how. I tried to edit to 0xED, but couldn't find Macbook air reference.
