Default Need Bluetooth help ASAP! Going Nuts - 03-11-2010, 02:47 AM

I installed this

pcs New Bluetooth 2.1 EDR Module(BMC92046) and 1pcs OEM Bluetooth Cable and Screws.

I put all of the cables together, computer back together..rebooted..No BT..then I did the bluetooth fix on netbookinstaller..then rebooted...i cant get the Module to be even recognized..went to bios..enabled BT..rebooted..no BT ..I am running 10.6.2...but now I have no choice but to reinstall SL with it already in place to hopefully have it picked up..I know this area is still fresh but I need a clear an concise rundown on how to make this module work..It has become a pain in the butt!

Thanks for all of your help and input...

First thing is go to System Preferences and see if there is a Bluetooth Preference Pane in the Internet and Wireless area. If so Turn it On and make it Discoverable.

I hope you have not yet reinstalled SL; likely not necessary.

Oh, and make sure BT is enabled in BIOS.

Phil

You probably should've ran NBI bluetooth fix AFTER you enabled bluetooth in BIOS.

Beats me -- but if "Ha!" means you're happy, cool!

Spank 2798. Relax and don't go nuts. I'm a licensed mental health professional; you're in good hands (at least for your MH concerns).

BT on the Dell Mini parallels my BT experience generally. Not as positive as I'd like it to be. Having said that, BT on the MINI seems to work fairly well if all the horses are lined up. First, and I say this only because I'm at Starbux, I'm not sure which BT module this is that you are referencing. I always get my mine directly from Beijing via eBay. I've put together lots of these DM-10Vs, and have had a few were the BT didn't work initially. Once I wrote the seller-guy in Beijing to complain and he replied, "we have had lots of failures of our BT module. Tell me how many have failed and I'll send you replacements." I did, he did, and now we're good. So, given this, you COULD have a faulty module. Next, and I'm not so sure of the latest iteration of NBI but BT may be fixed there, and as noted, you should run that latest NBI now and every time that you do a hardware mod. Finally, I always go into the terminal and tweak my BT manufacturer ID as noted on the attached .pdf file. With the BT ID correctly identified, you should have the same BT flexibility that one would experience on an MBP, for example.

The attached document is from a "legacy" post on this board, but I copied for myself only that which was relevant to me and did not include the source (author). To whomever that is, thank you, and my apologies.

Please note the text is old, for instance, it references DellEFI, and now we all use NBI. Just work around these issues and get to the part where you enter terminal and see if this helps.

Take care.

How did you check to verify your 10v actually has a BT module installed? The only real way to be sure is to open it up (remove the palmrest) and physically inspect it.

Minimal..I bought the 2.1 module..connected everything and running 10.6, using the A6 bios...enabled BT..did the BT FIX and the module still wouldn't show up and ruled everything out that it must have been a faulty module and then sent it back...Picked one up on ebay a couple of days ago from a guy in Texas has like 455 sold or something so we'll try the different module..but could you please inform us on exactly how you got yours up and running so I know precisely what to do when I get my new module? Thanks for your time..
