Default Accidentally updated to 10.6.2 and now I'm in a reboot loop. - 03-04-2010, 04:55 AM

I just accidentally updated to 10.6.2 WITHOUT running the latest NBI. I know that was a big mistake but now I'm stuck in a reboot loop. Could anyone help me out with this or point me to a link where they give you steps to fix it?

Just as an FYI I don't have the original USB boot up anymore, I still have the USB but I don't have the patched NetbookBootmaker on it. And I don't have access to an actual Mac either, just Windows Vista. So, all help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

There are a few different methods you can use, most of which are discussed in one or both of these threads:
I think my Dad installed 10.6.2 on his Dell Mini 10v. Won't boot anymore!
NBI not fixing my computer!

Dell Mini 10v | Mac OS X 10.6.2 | Windows 7 Professional | Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 | 1GB RAM | 160GB HDD | BIOS A05 | USB Legacy: OFF | USB Wake: OFF | BT: Enabled (self-installed BCM2046) | NBI 0.8.3 final

Everything goes well until I try to boot from the USB. I access it via the F12 boot screen and the apple logo pops up but then all these weird codes pop up and it says something like, "kernel panic" and a box pops up saying, "you must restart your computer" in multiple different languages. I read on those threads that some flashdrives aren't bootable, how might I go about telling if I have one that isn't bootable?

No good way other than noting whether it boots or not. It sounds like it is probably booting the NBI drive when you get the error. Some people have trouble using the NBI image to do the repair. Try one of the other options.

Is it possible to put Windows back on with a USB stick after hackintoshing?

Yes. You should set up your partitions accordingly when you install OS X, leaving one for Windows.
