The mini10V has no active cooling device (fan) and relies partially on the keyboard to dissipate heat. Running the mini with a closed lid is thus not recommended.
If you still want to do it, try to google insomniax or sleepless, both applications should keep your mini from sleeping when closing the lid.

How did you get mirroring to work perfectly? I got extended desktop working but not mirroring.

i bought one of those fan cooling pad things, it has 3 fans on it and it keeps my system pretty cool, if you have one of these would it be okay to run in clamshell mode or do you think the heat (around 65 celsius w/ fans) would still damage the lcd screen?

This could also be accomplished by hacking out the trigger for the LID in the DSDT, but that behaviour couldn't be changed without a reboot.
