Default Is someone working on a new Sound Driver? - 03-01-2010, 08:26 PM

Hi together,

i understood that the current soundcard driver is causing this 40-50s delay in the boot phase of our Mini 10V.

Is that something someone is working on, or do we need to expect that this is something we will have to live with?

News to me, the delay *and* the new driver.

The audio driver as a cause of the boot delay has been mentioned a few times here. Looking at my boot log, it appears that the VerbHelper.kext may be partly responsible. I have not had a chance to remove it to verify yet.

Is there something new on this topic ?

For my use of the netbook in the train, every minute is very important

it's not really debatable, unless you just like to argue, remove the audio kext and watch how dramatically faster the 10v boots. theres no discussion after that.

honestly? who cares! the last time I rebooted my mini was weeks ago when I did the 10.6.3 update. since then I'm only sleeping the machine. so the 1 minute boot time is not really that big of a deal...

Considering how the mini 10v drains it battery when it sleeps (safe sleep doesn't work on mine) I would really like to reduce boot time, but not lose sound for it.

Where exactly might one find that kext? It is not obvious from the link you posted, which just takes you to the index of the tonymacx86 forum.
