Someone please help me. I just installed Mac OS X 10.6.2 and ran NBI before and after the installation but sound still isn't working. I'm on a Dell Mini 10v. Please help, I'm pretty frustrated. :/

All I know is this happened to me when I upgraded to 10.6.2. Shutdown ,reboot, if it takes like thirty seconds or less to boot , the audio kext isn't loaded. Run latest NBI yet again, then report back and by then someone with alot more expertise may answer you. It's pretty easy to get answers here.

Thanks jmacie. I've run the installation process for NBI 0.8.3 RC5 about five times now and each time I've restarted and and I've yet to get any sound. Any other ideas?

Try the latest NBI 0.8.3 final. Make sure you do not uncheck any of the boxes that are checked by default and that you run it from normal mode, not safe mode.

I just ran NBI 0.8.3 final and restarted my computer. The sound still isn't working, but I have something weird happen. Whenever i turned my computer off to restart it I could hear the little "click" noise indicating a shut down or sleep mode but when I turned it back on the sound still wouldn't work. And this is probably a noob question but how can I tell the difference between running NBI in safe mode and in normal mode?

It takes about 45-50 seconds on average to boot. Is there any way I can revert back to 10.6?

Unless you are specifically entering the safe mode boot flag, you are probably in normal mode. Are you sure your volume is turned up?

Yeah, my volume is all the way up. What's even weirder is now I'm getting sound for certain things. For instance, when I delete a file it makes the "click" noise and when I empty trash it makes the noise for that, but everything else is completely silent. My volume slider buttons don't even make noise.

I'd get a set of headphones, mess around in preference panel sound section, seems a little suspect, but I guess I'd re-install if it was working in 10.6. Sorry don't have a clue, only the volume button.
