Unhappy SL Disk Utility not seeing HDD - 02-27-2010, 11:35 PM

I am using 2 USB flash drives to install OSX 10.6 retail on my Dell Mini 10v. Everything is fine until I start disk utility and try to prepare the HDD for the install. The only drives listed are the 2 USB drives, and I cannot figure out how to get it to recognize the HDD.

Looking in system profiler under SCSI, ATA, Serial-ATA, etc shows no devices.

I had this same issue and was unable to get an answer here on the forum.
I read somewhere that 10V's with XP pre installed on them are formatted in a way that causes this so you might try installing a different version of Windows.

I finally gave up and returned my first machine, then bought another one from a reseller.
Was able to install on the 2nd machine

Try using GParted Live USB to wipe the HDD clean of all partitions then to format the entire drive with a single NTFS partition.
