I think adding the BT may have killed it.
EDIT - Fixed it. Shutdown, pulled out power cable, held down power button for 10 secs, plugged in power cable, switched on. It's alive! |
Experienced that exact same issue - recently had to rebuild the my Dell Hackintosh due to problems with 10.6.8. Decided to start with a clean build from 10.6 up; by the way I had considerable trouble utilizing the Combo Updates so I went step at a time: 10.6 to 10.6.4 (here I used the Combo); 10.6.4 to 10.6.5 to 10.6.6 and then final 10.6.7 and stopped. No point going to 10.6.8. However, after getting the system running to include the
BT I found the webcam was not longer working. I knew the Dell had a terrible quality webcam so assumed it just broke and was about to purchase a new webcam until I came across the above info.
I checked the Profiler and sure enough the Camera was listed as operational under the USB; I didn't think unplugging the Power Cord, depressing the Power Switch for 10 seconds, plugging the Power Cord back into the Dell and powering up the system would work. Low and behold it did work. Tested the webcam out in Photo Booth and it is working.
I just couldn't believe it - but, hey, it worked. Thanks for the information, Bibbs. It saved me several dollars not purchasing a webcam.
