Hi chuckcapps, and welcome to the Forum... again!

With TransMac you don't have to format it first, or anything like that... TransMac does it all for you!

Just to confirm, the procedure is as follows:

Install TransMac and then run the program. Insert the DVD into your drive and the larger USB drive into an available port. Right-click on your DVD, select "Save Image of Disk" and save it to a folder on your hard drive. Wait for this to finish. Next, right-click on your flash drive*, highlight "Format Disk" and select "Format with Disk Image". Select the DVD image you just created, "Open", and then click "Yes". Wait for this to finish, this will probably take at least half an hour.

I used TranMac to prepare my NBI USB stick also.

i did those steps and wound up with a .dmg in a folder. i am still confused if you say i should be writing directly from dvd to flash drive. then why in the insructions do you say to save an image to a folder

thank you

Apologies for the confusion... it is a little while now since I did mine!

As you correctly say, you do have to save the image to your hard drive first!

I will go and edit my last post now, to be on the safe side!

I assume that you removed the U3 software using the program which I understand is on the actual drive itself, but following that I don't think that I can help you further I am afraid.

Certain drives have proved to be problematic I know, and I suppose it is always possible that you have a faulty one.

This is a process that a lot of users have performed without any problem, but I know that does not help you at all.

I do notice that you have even tried to format the drive to one of the Mac formats, which might be causing a problem, as I am not sure what 'level' TransMac is working at.

Perhaps someone else can help, or suggest something else which you can try?

There is no reason why not, although just because the image is prepared without any errors being generated, that unfortunately is no guarantee that the process will then complete successfully... although naturally it would be good if it did!

Hi Chuckcapps,
I was having the same issue as yourself and stumbled across this forum, anyway I believe I have found a solution and thought I would let you know -
1) Right click on the transmac icon on your desktop-select properties
2) Select tab "compatibility mode" and tick "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows xp sp3
3)Fnder "privilege level" tick the box -" run this program as an administrator, apply these settings and try again hope it works for you as it did for me
