Default Mac OS X Screen and will not accept my password? - 02-07-2010, 09:58 PM

Folks,

I just tried to install OS X for the first time and I get all the way to the Mac OS X screen after what looks like a successful install and when I enter my chosen password and click the 'Log In' house icon the dialog box does a little shake and the cursor sits in the 'Password' box again.

I think I did everything correctly using NetbookMaker 0.8.3 and it looks good up to this point.

Ouch ! ! ! HELP ! ! !

Dell Mini 10v. 1GB RAM. 160 GB HDD.

Best Regards,
mpaar

Had that happen once because I mistyped my pwd during the installation.

My solution was to re-install the OS from scratch: Argh!

why don't you try chameleon again to boot your OSX disc and in utilities menu go to the reset password tab and reset it, no idea if this wold work in a hack, haven't done it, but it's how i would reset a mac password.

Check caps lock--try your password with it both on and off.

So far so not so good.

I tried changing my password and the other things suggested and no go. I will try the whole procedure again as soon as I re-borrow my friend's Mac.

I am also still open to suggestions.

Thanks,
mpaar

Oh, and by the way. My install is really really close to functioning. I have everything except the silly password problem.

Fun Fun Fun . . . .
