Default No HDD available in Disk Utility - 02-06-2010, 03:15 PM

I have a mini 10v with BIOS A11 and Seagate Momentus 160GB (ST9160314AS) which came with XP pre-installed. When I boot with my NBI USB drive, all goes well until I try to partition with Disk Utility. The only drive that shows up on the left pane is the NBI USB drive.

I've seen some similar posts here, but no solutions yet.

Appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.

Interesting to note that booting from Ubuntu 8.04 Live CD does not see any available HDDs for install either. Booting into Ubuntu 9.10, Gparted sees the HDD just fine, as well as the Gparted Live CD.

Not sure of that provides any additional clues about the problem, but still no Joy.

I had this same issue. Finally in frustration I returned my Mini 10V, then went out and bought another one. One hour later Voila ! I'm up and running. Since both are refurbished units is it possible the first was not a 10V but a 1011 (10) I don't know, but if yours is brand new and you're stumped, you might consider exchange
