Default Dell 10v w/SL Safe to do software upgrade - 02-02-2010, 06:29 PM

I am a bit confused. Is it safe to use the software update feature in SL and pull down and install the recommended updates? Is there anything special I need to do?

If you are updating to 10.6.2 from 10.6.0 or 10.6.1 you need to run the most current NBI after the upgrade and preferably before you reboot.

Other software updates are not problem and you don't need to do anything special.

You must run the latest NBI (0.8.3 for now) before updating to 10.6.2. You should run it again once OS X reboots into 10.6.2 (audio likely will not work until you do) then reboot. No problem with other updates available at this time. You will need to repeat the process for every major OS update (e.g. 10.6.3) after first looking at these forums to make sure it is safe to update the OS.

Dell Mini 10v | Mac OS X 10.6.2 | Windows 7 Professional | Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 | 1GB RAM | 160GB HDD | BIOS A05 | USB Legacy: OFF | USB Wake: OFF | BT: Enabled (self-installed BCM2046) | NBI 0.8.3 final
