When I went to do the partition the drive according to his guide I couldnt because the 2 drives were "greyed out", I am not sure if this is the same issue you are having but this is how I fixed it: (Mac OS X: Disk Utility - All options dimmed for a disk that was formatted as NTFS in Microsoft Windows XP)
  1. Start from your Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Install disc.
  2. Chose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
  3. Select the drive with the issue on the left side of the Disk Utility window.
  4. Choose Get Info from the File menu.
  5. Note the information listed under "Disk Identifier".
  6. Close the Information window and quit Disk Utility.
  7. Choose Terminal from the Utilities menu.
  8. Type:

diskutil partitiondisk [DiskIdentifier] JHFS+ newdisk 100%

Note: Replace "[DiskIdentifier]" with the information gathered in step 5.
  9. Press Return.
  10. Wait for the command to complete, then quit Terminal.
  11. Choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and make the desired changes.
Please note this will only create a single partition as in the Mechdrew guide as noted.

I hope this helps...

Hi,
I see you have successfully installed OSX on you mini with XP on it. I dont have a mac either. I have a problem.

1.I was able to make the usb drives with the images from the mechdrew site.

2.I have the new snow leopard disk that I made an image with Macdrive and
PowerISO.

3. Downgraded to A04 bios

4. Boots up with the Chameleon bootloader w/o a problem.

5. I select the "Mac OSX Install Disc"

6. It starts reading from my usb drive the the image.

7. Then it stops and gives me an error telling me " You must reboot" in multiple languages.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG! PLEASE HELP.

Most likely there is some problem with your OS X image. Try using TransMac to re-make that USB drive.

Thanks. I made the image from a Leopard Snow disc I bought from Apple. Which one did you use?

That is the correct disc. However, there are various methods that can be used to write the disc image to a USB flash drive, and some seem more reliable than others. On Windows, people seem to have the highest success rate using Transmac.

Default Dell mini 10v install still not working - 03-29-2010, 07:16 AM

I did use transmac to make a DMG file then converted it to .ISO, then put it the image on my flash drive. It didnt work.

So, I bought an external dvd rom and used the mechrew netbook CD method. I used the original. I got stuck at the apple screen and wheel. Keeps spinning but nothing happens on the DVD. Cant get the language screen. Any ideas.

Specs: mini 10v, Asus slim external dvd, Leapard osx disc for $29 from Apple, Mechdrew iso for netbook cd.
BIOS: A04, disabled bluetooth, WLAN, LAN...only enabled USB Legacy. ANY IDEAS ANYONE???

Don't convert the DMG. Just write it to your flash drive via Transmac. I don't have much experience as I've only just done my first Hackintosh but the transmac method was flawless for me after several failures from ripping the disc with other software.

i feel bad you guys are having issues with the 10v OSX installation. Man i stood up 3 days trying to get mines to work over 1 little bios setting.

I havn't experienced your problem, and i hope someone can help you. Try reformatting everything via your windows CD and start from scratch. your dell CD should format out 3 drives.
