I am a reasonably new Mini 10v user and a brand new mydellmini.com reader. After about a month I've gotten tired of windows 7... I'm also a mac user and the idea of snow leopard on this little machine is very appealing. The installation process seems very straightforward currently, via the netbookinstaller method - I won't even need to downgrade the BIOS! But I see that some people are noticing issues with their Western Digital Hard Drives. My mini came with the WDC WD1600BEVT.
I'm curious if anybody is running Snow Leopard with the stock Western Digital HD (particularly the model # above), and is NOT having semi-regular kernel panics? I'm trying to assess whether it is worth a try (ie some people don't have the problem) or if I shouldn't bother without swapping the hard drive.
I don't have a big problem swapping the hard drive - have done this in other laptops - but I don't want to void the hardware warranty. Anybody have experience with this issue? And for that matter the issue of warranty as related to installing OSX?
Many thanks for your help and experiences in advance.
