Default Latest Version of Netbook Maker? - 01-25-2010, 04:21 PM

I just purchased a Dell Mini 10V from Dell at a great price ($197) with a Qwest internet special offer (no broadband required).

Anyway, I have downloaded Netbook Maker 0.8.3 and will be using it to install Snow Leopard, which I just purchased from Apple. I have seen that there is an 0.8.4 but have not been able to find the download. Just want to be sure that 0.8.3 will work just fine with Snow Leopard. If not, can someone provide me with a link to get the latest version? It has been hard to find if it is out there.

Thanks!

I don't believe that 0.8.4 has been released yet, but you can find all the latest software etc. here.

If you haven't decided yet which guide to follow, the favourite on on here is by MechDrew, and can be found here. (assuming that you don't have access to a Mac).

Good Luck... and welcome to the Forum!

Thanks Montala! This is very helpful and also thank you for the links. I do have a MacBook and an iMac that I will be using for the job. It seems like it shouldn't be too difficult as I have some instructions from Gizmodo.com but will follow both of your links. Again, thanks for your help!

No problem... if you haven't already done so, you might like to have a look at MechDrew's first guide (link) which is for users such as yourself, who do already have access to a Mac.

You will also find some more in the OS X Guides Section on here, but it is probably best just to stick which whichever one you are most happy with, and which fits your particular circumstances... and I am sure that you don't want to have to re-flash your BIOS unless you really have to!

Wow! This is phenomenal information. I am going to print it and follow it step-by-step. I agree, I do not want to re-flash the BIOS if I don't have to. Thanks again!

This thread http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell...answer-no.html says the 1010 will not run OS X; but it is a very old thread.

The best source of current data is Meklort's blog here Meklort's Blog

Here is a (very dated) compatibility chart Mac OS X Netbook Compatibility Chart (Just get a Dell Mini 10v) | Boing Boing Gadgets

Also some really good info at the MechDrew site OS X | mechdrew but not updated in a month or so.

OS X on the 1010 doesn't look promising, but I may have overlooked the info you need.

Phil

The 1010 works, but without acceleration.
You may want to have a look at this topic:
