I apologize if this has been posted before--I did a search, but couldn't turn up anything.
My Mini was working very well--took it on a big trip with me and it did exactly what I bought (and hackintoshed) it to do.
Then, randomly, it started misbehaving. (I can't remember what, if anything, I did just before that.) The first symptom was a sudden loss of desktop icons. The files are there if I open a Finder window, but absolutely nothing is on my desktop. (The "show hd on desktop" preference thing is checked.) I've tried rebooting, deleting the finder and desktop pref files, repairing permissions...still no icons.
At the same time (but possibly not relevant), my display went kind of funny. It was harder to read than I remembered, so I tried different display settings. Every setting but 1024 ends up with a black vertical bar on either side of the screen, with the actual desktop kind of boxed into the middle. I set it back to 1024 and tried to use TinkerTool to increase various system font sizes. The computer has thus far steadfastly ignored this.
Also possibly not related, but just in case it helps diagnostically: I still get the Hibernation image error, even though I installed the most recent NBI yesterday.
Any strategies to get my hackbook to stop being so petulant and listen to me again?
