Default Software updating excluding the OS : is it possible? - 01-10-2010, 07:32 PM

Everybody's talking about the fact of updating - or not - from any given version of OSX to the next. Last NBI ables to update to 10.6.2, and it works great.

I have another question : it is possible to update the apps I use without fearing problems of functionning for my new Mackintosh? For example, if I run software update, it shows me that there's a new version of iTunes (minor update, of course... 9.0.1 to 9.0.2).

Is it safe to update? Same thing for the others apps I'm going to install in the next days (MS Word, things like that...).

It should be fine to update anything other than the OS without fear of bricking your system.

Some have reported loosing their speakers after the new iTunes update, I didn't have an issue, but if you do, just re run NBI and select install mini extensions, reboot and your good as new again.
