The official Dell A06 bios release isn't DOS compatible.
It either needs a custom file or a different process.

Does anyone know if there is any reason at all to upgrade your BIOS on this computer?

To confirm you CAN boot from the SD card slot on the mini 10v. I booted ChromeOS from a 2GB SD card without any problems. I just put USB devices first in the boot order on my mini...when the card's inserted before boot I get ChromeOS, with no card I get Mac OS X.

I can't find a reason to upgrade past A04. Things work too well to risk it.

Dell Mini 10v: 1.6 GHz Atom, 2GB RAM, 64 GB Kingston SSDNow V-Series, Mac OS X 10.6.4, A04 BIOS, NBI 0.8.4 RC1
MacBook Pro: 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 160GB HD, Mac OS X 10.6.4
Mac mini: 2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 440GB HD, Mac OS X 10.6.4
