Right then: I've got a 3g dongle! OUCH! I hear you say....Seems like it might work but I need 10.6.2.
HERE MY MISTAKE:
I used NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 RC3 and not RC5 to upgrade and now it won't boot (I'm guesting that is probably the cause). It loads up the progress bar, fails, and then tries again and again and again...you get the idea. OK I thought. I'll just try and boot up off the external HD with the original OS X image on it and restore it back to 10.6.0 or just wipe it clean and start from scatch.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM: It won't let me. Even when I prioritize USB and removerable devices above the internal hard drive to boot from in the bios set up. If anyone could help with a quick fix; like FORCING it to boot up off the external HD or how to wipe it and start again or an even better solution (I'm sure the is one) for my tired head I would be VERY appreciative!! In case I do have to start again I'm gonna make a RC5ed boot image in the mean time.

Still got to get that dongle working once I get 10.6.2 up and running....good times.

Bios A04
No need to reinstall. Follow the directions here to make an NBI 0.83 bootable flash drive. Boot with the flash drive (press F12 at the Dell screen then choose USB--make sure USB Legacy is Enabled in the BIOS first). This should get you back into OS X. Once in, download and run NBI 0.83 final.

I lost sound when I upgraded. I've tried almost everything I can find to fix the sound problem, nothing works. Has anyone been able to fix this?

Just run NBI 8.3 again. Reboot. Worked for me. Also, make sure you turn off USB Legacy support.

If it's not broke, take it apart and see how it works

Just installed all Apple updates with zero hitch. Ran NBI, installed the 10.6.2 update, ran it again, rebooted -- installed the other updates, rebooted, ran NBI once more. Perfect.

Ok, following this guide to get the system up and running with OSX & Win7:
Simple way to create Dual Boot : Snow Leopard and Windows 7

- Downloaded and Installed 10.6.2 Combo Update
- Ran NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 Final again (from OS)
- Rebooted
- Got stuck in constant reboot
- Tried -X boot (no change)
- Tried changing BIOS settings (no change)
-- need USB Legacy on to boot from USB, but turned off
-- have BT hardware, need that enabled
- Ran NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 Final again (from bootable - not from OS)
- Reinstalled 10.6.0, booted fine

Anyone have any suggestions for getting 10.6.2 on and functional?

BIOS A04 | USB Legacy: OFF | USB Wake: OFF | BT: Enabled | NBI 0.8.3 final

Did you check the install bootloader (Chameleon) box in NBI the first time you tried upgrading to 10.6.2? You must run NBI 0.8.3 final with that option checked before and after the 10.6.2 update.

It will break your Windows 7 install until you do a repair, unless you follow the advice I posted near the end of this thread.

Yes, I had the following checked when I ran it before & after (before reboot) ... then got stuck in the reboot loop ... then again from my bootable USB OSX install DVD Netbook Installer:
- Install Chameleon RC3 Bootloader
- Install Dell Mini 10v Extensions
- Generate a system specific dsdt.aml file
- Enable Remote CD
- Enable Hibernation
- Fix Bluetooth

No such luck unfortunately. Any other suggestions?
...and yes, I did the Win7 Repair after as well...

When I boot up after installing 10.6.2 my laptop forces me to turn off. Any suggestions? I used all the proper install techniques.

Chrisdonnay- you don't mention what method used to install SL OSX so I'll take a stab at your dilema- Early on when I had a problem I just restored my last set-up using Carbon Copy- if you did not back up your working system to SL Before updating- try re-installing SL OSK and running the special "patch NBI ....51 before any updates"( see my sig below for links )
