Totally fine. A lot of people have that same hardware.

As for RAM, you can buy any DDR2 laptop memory. Newegg is a good place to look, I got my 2GB module for $21 shipped. Don't worry about speed, the speed won't make a difference on a netbook.

Any 10v will work. The difference between the N270 and N280 is just a minor speed increase.

@mechdrew RAM prices have gone up, you're probably looking at $42-50 for a stick of 2GB nowadays. That's the problem of not keeping large inventories, prices vary wildly depending on economic conditions.

Wow, you're right! I haven't been looking for it so I didn't check to see how high the prices have become. Well, keep an eye out for sales then!

Edit: In the original post it asks for Mac-compatible RAM, don't bother; Mac-compatible RAM (or so labeled) is unneeded, you just need RAM that fits in your RAM slot (good old PC RAM.) So a 200 ping SO DIMM compatible DDR2 module is all you need.

Default Why not buy the RAM installed from Dell? - 01-02-2010, 12:38 PM

Greetings...my first post here after lurking (and learning) for a couple weeks. If you don't have your mind made up or set on Windows XP you could just order a Mini 10v direct from Dell with 2gb RAM installed.

Its a $50 upgrade from Dell for the 2gb stick...so if you haven't already purchased your Mini or your RAM, you may as well have Dell install it for you and avoid the hassle of the rather elaborate install. Of course YMMV depending on your experience with tearing down laptops/netbooks.

Just as a further related query, should there be any problems with the standard Dell Mobile Broadband card (in a 10v) running under Snow Leopard and connecting to Vodafone U.K.

I am contemplating trying a 'hackintosh' but (like the OP) would like to ensure that all my current hardware is compatable first!

Thanks!
