Default /extra folder gone - 12-18-2009, 09:57 PM

This isnt the first time this has happened. After tweeking and playing, and dual booting and switching back, somewhere along the journey my /extra folder has dissapeared.... last time this happened I re formatted and re-installed from scratch to get it back. Anybody have any tricks... ive tried the basic re running 8.2 nbi with only dstl selected then run 8.3 rc4 with nothing. repaired disk permisions......even re run nbm with no luck. Any suggestions would be welcome, I would rather not do a full installation again.

the folder is normally invisible in Mac OS X,
and it's spelled with capital E (/Extra)
Have you tried reaching it by command-shift-G
and then typing "/Extra" (without quotes) ?

What can I say... your a genius!!

Thanks for the input that was very helpful and a hell of a lot easier than doing a full re-install!

you mention that you run rc4 without any options selected?

The thing is, dsdt creation with rc4 is buggy, so run 0.8.2 with dsdt only, then run rc4 with all basic options, including dsdt, because it does update it correctly, and offers better support.

There is also an option to show/hide Extra folder, but no need really, if you set your system up fine and have no major issues, and if don't care about extra OS tweaking, nevermind.

I'm attaching a script that comes in really handy if you keep it forgotten in "Documents" folder. Click "show" to show hidden files, click "hide" and run away, count to 10, shout "V", and your mini will come looking for you.
