Default Airport won't turn on!? - 12-18-2009, 05:10 AM

Ok, I've been looking for hours and I still can't find an answer. For some reason my airport (ie wifi card) won't turn on. I just got my 10v a day ago, and installed os x 10.6.2 today without a problem. I go into the network settings and it detects it's mac address, along with in the about menu when it shows all the system stuff. It detects that there is an airport there. I deleted/reinstalled/rebooted the airport from network settings at least 10 times. I've also installed all available updates. The only thing I can think of is that i disabled wifi before i uninstalled windows. That can't be it can it? Anyone have any answers? Thanks!

Btw, bios is A5

Hi! I'm from Russia, so sry 4 my language)))

I had almost the same issue some time ago. My bluetooth card wasn't in list and it didn't work))) I've tried almost everything. I remembered, that before formatting partition with XP, i've disabled bluetooth in windows (Why?! Mb i was tryin to save energy....).And i have expirience with problems like that (hardware that were disabled in windows won't work in mac os - mb there are excepteptions i don't know)
The only way to make it work (as i did) is to reinstall windows (better install windows 7 - it's easier to make bootable USBflash with windows 7), turn it ON (and look if both (WiFi,Bluetooth) devices enabled!! )and then install OsX. It would take a little time........., but in the end it MUST work)

I have the same netbook and the same bios - everything works.

Good luck!

Wow, you are totally right. I just restored windows, and all the utilities from the CD and the wireless STILL wasn't turning on. Then I went on the dell site and they had the utility I need to turn it on. The dell wireless on/off utility acts like a physical on/off for the device it seems. Wireless is back on and I'll be re-installing OS X later today, this time hopefully with wireless

I'm very glad that it was useful for U
BTW, when i read that this could be the reason why device doesn't work i was very surprised and i didn't believe that it could be the real reason)))) I've tried a lot of different kexts and spent so much time tryin to turn it on by software in OsX with no result.))
Installing SL on Dell 1011 is simple. But 4 the 1st time i did the same mistake as you did but with BT)))) Good luck with new install)))
If you'll need help i guess on this site you will find it))))

Default re-install windows for bad bluetooth - 12-18-2009, 08:25 PM

How do you reinstall windows??? I have the problem that Bluetooth isn't enabled, and I guess it must have been turned off in windows. So I would appreciate some support in re-installing Windows.

Thank you!!!!

You mean your bluetooth doesn't work in MacOs? You should try: to install NetBookInstaller0.8.3RC4 (have already tried it? what version of MacOs you have?) or generate DSDT with NBI 0.8.3rc2 (if you didn't do this before). Check there "fix bluetooth" only. If it doesn't help you - reinstall windows.

I installed Windows 7, cause it's on home PC. It's not hard to do))) You should have windows 7 installed on pc.
Follow this method. It's pretty detailed

After this check if "USB legacy" enabled in bios. If it's ok, then restart and during booting press F12 and choose usb. Wait a little and that's all))
