yeah sorry should have made it clear, this was an ex hdd attached to a mac, avoid WD drives for Dell mini Hacks full stop. I don't have any experience of that but I can imagine the results.

to be fair to WD they do have a series of hard drives (external) that are Mac targeted. they should be okay.

Cant find the official page, but using google you get dozens of WD threads on Apple Support, like this one. Internal, external, fw... loads

If anyone's interested or upgrading drives...
