Yes you may ![]() What you need; - Swiss army knife style blade - Color-of-taste-isolating-plastic-tape... choice may affect response. - A plastic hard covered book. I chose "SPSS Statistics for Beginners" ![]() - Your favorite screwdriver Procedure: (last picture is step 1, then in order, click next to watch like a short movie) 1 - remove palm rest and flip it over. Note the yellow paper tape. Remove and stick it on the edge of your monitor to keep clean. 2 - With your nail, pop up the edge of the copper blanket 3 - With the help of the blade, do the same to the silver one on the other side 4 - gently remove the trackpad connector 5 - gently un-glue the blankets, remove the 4 screws 6 - Finger on the trackpad surface, pop it out the palm rest 7 - place the trackpad faced up on the book surface, and measure the black tape to taste. The heavier the book and paper weight holding down the opposite side, the stabler the surface, the easier the cutting and placing. Cut leaving a bit out the sides. make sure the surface is really clean and even. 8 - With your thumb and nail, wedge the tape into the groove, several times, all the way around. 9 - This is a bit tricky, thank god no contacts are around. Cut slightly over the inner edge. Do NOT hold down the tape on the opposite side (underneath surface) or else the trackpad won't click when re-assembled 10 - ... err ... Re-assemble! ![]() ![]() |

If actually feels like a pressure sensitive button now! amazing! Press hard and move, and the cursor follows nicely. Click and light finger touching, and almost zero contact. |

But now you are taking the computer apart? Is that all just do you can do a neater job of gluing the tap down, or am I missing something? BTW, the tape as per your original post worked great. Still no sure why, of what the touchpad thinks its doing, but it sure does something! |

Didn't really like how it looked the next day, lets face it, it didnt ![]() Not that I am mad crazy about it now, but I do ALOT of typing and sorting, cutting a pasting, and although RC4 is much better than before, I still get suddent jolts of movement, magically warping to the opposite side... its all about driver, circuit sensitivity and conductivity of your fingers I guess.. In my case, it fixed all my -> damn it's !!---------- Post added at 10:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:27 PM ---------- kylemorley, I read back and I get why you are confused, sorry about that. When I speak of "it feels like pressure sensitive now, amazing whatever..." ... What I mean is that, for me, the slightest contact with the trackpad, makes it move. This drove me crazy, clicking and dragging stuff, right clicking to menu's, it was "drunk-driving" like! I would miss the mark when I tried to speed up things to get things done. Now, at the covered area, the buttons behave like buttons "for the first time" when just tapping to click. No more click-and-move-a-bit. When click and other finger dragging, I reach the target and drop without missing, but, and this is the part the makes it most for me, for certain minute tasks I can click the button and move my finger, with extreme precision. Extreme precision. I say "like pressure sensitive" because, when I click-and-press-in a little harder, roll my finger around, it moves very gentle and very smooth. Unlike before. I would do so, but be very nervous reacting. Inversely, I can click and leave my finger light touching and no contact is made, making relaxed day-to-day operation smoother too. Did I make sense at all ? Because it could be the "problem here" are my own fingers, not the trackpad... ? |

Just an observation, I had just resumed from sleep, so at the very beginning the cursor freezes a little due to the mini finishing off waking up... it is highly responsive and accurate! |
