Default It works!!! SL 10.6 with AO6 - 12-10-2009, 12:57 AM

Thanks for ALL your help! I have been reading and watching for weeks. Today I finished installing SL 10.6 on the new mini 10v, which is my wife's Christmas present.

This is what I did.
I followed mechdrew's guide for installing a via pulling the HD and using an external enclosure. The guide is here.... Guides | OS X | mechdrew

BUT, and this is a big BUT....he says do NOT use Netbookmaker, just straight to NetbookInstaller. But, Netbookinstaller would not run. Tried several times with every version I could get...but none of them would run.

So, I came to back here to a couple of threads and
and followed the advice I found here. This is what I did.

After installing SL and iWorks 08 on the 10v HD via external case...next
- Booted from 10v HD running SL 10.6 attached via external case to Macbook Pro.
- Ran Netbookmaker 0.8.2
-Ran NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 RC3
- Ran NetBookInstaller 0.8.3 RC4

Rebooted....Shutdown...reinstalled into 10v chassis...booted and got the gray screen...(Apple logo with a square around it)

Rebooted and when gray screen came up I pushed, -x, nothing....so I rebooted and held -f. It booted up and is running great.
No audio, but trackpad, sleep, and screen resolution all seem to be working great. Even the battery indicator seems to be accurate.

Any suggestions on getting the audio to work?

Thanks for all your help and hard work!

You coulda had a more compatible system if you downgraded your BIOS, much easier process, but props for getting it working!

Try running "UpdateExtra" located in "/Extra".

I got exactly as far as you with the A06 bios version. I tried 100 different versions of installations and NEVER got the sound to work. I finally downgraded to A04 (was rather simple) and did a fresh install (I use the external method with my macbook) ran nbm installed the hdd back into the mini then ran nbi 8.2 and then 8.3 rc4 and everything works now like a champ. If I had only downgraded to A04 sooner.....

I have no problems with A06. I figured it doesn't hurt to try and this is a toy computer for me, so I can break it and re-install and I don't care. I installed to the SSD with my Mac Mini, ran NBI on it and it booted fine. 10.6.2 broke the bootup, but a USB stick with NBM 0.8.3RC4 fixed it right up. Ran NBI 0.8.3RC4 on it after booting and all the hardware worked fine. I had to manually fix the bluetooth for it to come back after sleep, but that was easy enough. I don't have the Dell module, so the IDs in NBI were wrong.

I also installed the fix for audio pops/not playing short sounds, frequency scaling, and the restart after sleep fix. Everything is working great.

Yes PLEASE !! What is the fix for audio ??

My method was using a Mini 9 as the "Mac"

- Mounted 320gb 7200rpm on an enclosure hooke to mini 9
- Installed SL to USB
- Booted into the mini 9 (not from USB, from mini 9)
- slapped the USB with NBM 0.8.2
- HDD into 10v (with USB, wake and BT dissabled)
- Booted, created account, ran NBI 0.8.2 + dsdt
- Reboot + Combo 10.6.1 + NBI 0.8.3rc3 (no dsdt) - Repair Perms - reboot
- NBI 0.8.4 rc4 + dsdt + Repair Permissions
- Reboot.

Now, all the way through, no audio !!!

someone help me?

Also, quick question, for 10.6.2... do I now just update and reboot? Or do I have to run NBI again?

Shouldnt it be NBM to fix the bootloader? I'm a bit confused here...

And now that we're at it... VoodooPowerMini ok with 10.6.2?

thanks!!
