No, not the most original title subject ever, but hopefully someone can help
So I want to get my family onto the OS X vibe but can't afford laptops at present. I saw someone with a Dell Mini running OS X and I was mightily impressed!
So I've purchased a Dell 1011 from the Outlet store, with 1gb ram, 8gb SDD and pre-installed with Ubuntu (A4 bios).
I bought a copy of 10.6, made an image, stuck it on a formatted HDD (with netboot also patched to it), plugged it in and was overjoyed to see it detect it straight away!
I then formatted the HDD as instructed, clicked GO and then....doom. Realised that 10.6 is TOO BIG for the SDD. So I tried to tweak it in the install but cant remove enough files to trim it down.
I was then guided to Xslimmer. I dragged the disc image into it, slimmed it but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
The reason I went with Snow is because I'd read it was only about a 5gb install. My mum's not going to need 160gb of storage and thought this would do the trick. Now I'm not so sure.
So, if anyone can advise me on what I need to do I'd be majorly grateful.
Second query is about the Dell 1010s - am I right in thinking they don't
run OS X (either 10.5 or 10.6?)
Big thanks in advance if you can help!
