yea there are things like that that bug me.
For some reason the hard drive icon on the desktop isn't the typical icon on another computer, this one is the yellow one that is used mostly for external hard drives. any one know of how to change that?
I fixed the lid problem by disabling usb legacy support in the BIOS.

yeah as it hasn't got a boot volume it's given an ex hd icon tag. ???
what I do for all my Mac's hard drive icons is use the cool range of "fruity Apples" icons giving "Macintosh HD" the traditional rainbow coloured one.
Download Fruity Apples - A set of lovely apple icons - Softpedia
to reassign (with mouse).. right/option click on the drive icon >> get Info>>> when that plane opens check permissions for read and write.
then open your fruity Apples in finder, drag the file to the upper icon on top of the "get info" plane, that should change the icon.
I'll up a screen shot of my Mac desk top in my profile album so you can see what i mean..
if you want to add the orginal apple HD icon, ermm google or hunt around your resources folders.. try "candy bar" icon switcher app free trail, think they have all the default icons you can use.
