Default Pressing F1 key causes a problem - 11-19-2009, 09:04 PM

I accidently pressed the F1 key when aiming for the Esc key whilst viewing iPlayer at full-screen, the screen switched in some way and went black and although I could still hear the audio I could not get an image on screen. The only way out was a hard restart.

Anyone know what the F1 key does in Windozes mode?

Can someone check to see if this is a problem on all Hackintoshed 10v's

Well in function mode, the F1 key looks to be the toggle for using multiple displays.

Under medium mode, I'm not sure. Or is it the other way around...

NetbookInstaller includes a patch that disables the F1 (multimedia mode) key on the 10v. It sounds like your dsdt wasn't generated properly, so I'd try running netbookInstaller. On my machine, that key does nothing.

Perhaps if I had a monitor it would help. I wonder if it is possible to reassign the F1 function or even disable it as I can see my daughter hitting this often.

Rerun Netbookinstaller (download the latest), and it'll be disabled.

Hi Meklort-

Tried this several times (deleted the dsdt, ran .8.2 and then .8.3RC4 to create/update) on my 10v still to no avail. Is there any way to check whether the dsdt is proper or another way to check that the patch is installed? Thanks!

(I'm probably going to turn off multimedia mode in the meantime because it is to dangerous to have a single key that can hang everything)

What does multimedia mode do and how does one turn it off?

I just changed the function keys from "multimedia mode" in the BIOS. I may still hit F1, but as long as I don't hit Fn + F1, I'm fine

I have repeatedly tried running 0.8.3RC4, but my F1 key is still enabled. Is there any way I can do this manually?

edit: specs
10v running 10.6.2
A05 Bios (BT off, USB Legacy on, USB Wake off, Multimedia keys)
Installed with 0.8.3RC4 USB
0.8.2 DSDT.aml -> 0.8.3RC4 update
